Ice Dams: Ice dams are chunks of ice that can form when snow begins to melt and drain to the edges of your home but then refreezes and begins to block water from draining off. When this happens, water could work its way under the shingles and seams and leak into your home. Snow cannot only naturally melt from the warmth of the day but can also melt from the warmth of your home at the edges of the roof. The gutters of your home can often be the leading problem if they are not cleaned out before winter. If you didn’t get a chance to completely clear your gutters before winter has arrived, it’s not too late. Since it usually doesn't snow non-stop throughout the winter months, you’ll likely have some gaps where you can clear your gutters.
